Reality Check

This post is gonna be a hard one, so bear with me.

I went in for more chemo a couple weeks ago, a longer stay that would enable me to leave for college and come back into town for the shorter stays. I’d be able to go to school and still finish treatment. It was the ideal situation. However, my jaw had been bothering me, aching and keeping me from eating normally. It was the second time it had happened, so I had a scan to see what might be the problem. There was something behind my left sinus, but it was unclear what it was. I had a biopsy two days later: Ewing sarcoma.

I don’t know what this means. I’m having scans in the next couple of weeks to see what is happening. Until then, I’m just waiting around. I’m not going to school right now, I’m not moving in, I’m not doing anything. My plans are shattered like fine china.

I apologize that this post isn’t jovial, and that my thank you notes from graduation (I know, I’m ridiculous) are only half-done. I’m doing the best I can.

  1. Oh Hannah, I so hate to hear this! I know it is had to look on the bright side right now with your plans for Clemson falling behind but we are going to keep praying, praying and praying as long as we need to get his horrible cancer out of your body and believe that you will get to Clemson as a student. Love you and my heart hurts for you but you are going to beat this! Know we are praying harder and more for you!

  2. Hannah, I believe with all my heart and soul, you will one day graduate from Clemson. You have been and will continue to be in my prayers. Blessings upon you always!

  3. Hannah, I pray for you everyday all day long! Get in God’s Word. He will give you the strength you need for this day and each day to come. While you are waiting, give yourself permission to do some fun things. Try to find joy while you wait. God’s timing is perfect timing, even when we do not understand. (Which we don’t.) God created you. He loves you more than anyone on this earth. He got you to this, He will get you through this. Yes, everyone HATES cancer. Beat it Hannah! Stay strong!!! Lots of love and hugs to you and your family!

  8. I cannot think of any news that sucks more than this report. I am sorry I cannot think of a nicer way to say it, but that is exactly how I feel. You deserve GOOD health and you deserve to start your freshman year at Clemson NOW.
    Hugs and Kisses XOXO !!

  9. Hannah, this totally sucks! I know checking in at Clemson was your carrot on the stick — it has been a tough journey and now there is this speed bump. Let Clemson continue to be your carrot — it will happen, just not as first planned. I know that is oversimplifying it. Take care of Hannah now – do what you have to do to beat the cancer beast. We love you and continue praying that God will give you and your family the strength to deal with this journey, and the wisdom to know which course of action to take. Love you all!

  10. Hannah, so many have already said what I also would say. Just know this, God does have a plan and just when we say “No More” is when we see the changes. All you can do is stand back and fight this too and take it one day at a time……………..

But keep your chin up, YOU WILL BEAT THIS! We continue to pray for you day and night. You are never far from our thoughts.

  19. Hannah, My prayer is with you and your family during this time but I’m a firm believer that god gives the toughest battles to the strongest soldiers. So you keep fighting Hannah Warren fight until you can’t fight anymore. You will attend Clemson speak it into action Clemson will be waiting on you. In the word inside of the bible god will never leave us nor forsake us and I am a firm believer of that. You are a strong young lady and you have been fighting for some time now but keep on keep on fighting. The support you have behind you, you will kick this cancer butt.

  20. Hang in there Hannah. You can do this. Clemson will wait for you. After what I saw my niece Elizabeth Corontzes go through I am convinced the staff at MUSC are angels in disguise & miracle workers. You are in good hands. Wishing courage and strength to you & your family.

  21. Hannah, so sorry to see this post. While you have to keep fighting longer and your plans for Clemson have changed, you have so many friends and family in your corner. Many of them you might not even know. We are all praying for you. God has plans for you and we may not be able to see exactly what they are at this point, but HE knows what they are. I know that your faith is strong. Don’t give up. Keep on fighting because God is fighting right beside you. Praying for you and your family for healing and strength. God Bless, Hannah.
